John Adams serves as Head of Investment Banking for Sheshunoff & Co Investment Banking.  John has been involved in over 100 successful merger transactions representing both buyers and sellers, focused on merger and acquisition advisory services, capital issuance and debt placement.  His background includes buy-side and sell-side engagements, merger negotiation and structuring, financial analysis and industry research. Prior to joining Sheshunoff eighteen years ago, John spent four years with a Wall Street investment bank working in their Financial Institutions Group in New York.  John has over twenty-two years of experience in financial services, valuing financial institutions and advising clients in the merger & acquisition process, involving both public and private institutions, as well as equity and debt underwriting.

Kirk Hovde is Managing Principal & Head of Investment Banking at Hovde Financial in Chicago. Hovde is responsible for leading the firm’s investment banking practice, as well as evaluating the financial and strategic options of financial institutions. In this capacity, Hovde performs financial analyses and valuations of banks and thrifts, assists in the facilitation of M&A transactions and capital offerings, and assesses the impact of national and regional trends on the financial services industry. Svec was the ninth person to join Performance Trust, serving as the first CFO of the company and became a regular instructor at Bond Training Camp(tm) (now Performance Trust University(r)). He left Performance Trust in 2000 to gain operational experience, first as CFO of PrivateBank in Chicago and then as CEO of two smaller banks in Illinois. He rejoined the firm in 2013. Svec began his career in public accounting at the firm of Crowe Chizek (now Crowe Horwath LLP), where he spent seven years working exclusively with community financial institutions doing all areas of auditing, tax and various consulting projects including loan review and regulatory compliance. Svec has a degree in Accounting from DePaul University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is Series 63 and 79 registered.

Craig Mueller has nearly 40 years of experience working with community banks. He joined Oak Ridge Financial in 2007. Mueller spent the first 13 years of his career at the American National Bank of St. Paul, initially as a commercial lender and later in its Investment Department. In 1992, Mueller joined Dain Rauscher, Inc., to start its Financial Institutions Unit. 

Mueller is experienced in lending, investments, capital raising, M&A and board responsibilities; he attributes the Financial Institutions Group’s success to four decades of cultivating banking relationships. Mueller has assisted multiple investor groups form and fund de novo bank charters. He has also served on two bank holding company boards, which provided first-hand understanding of a board’s fiduciary responsibilities. Marcia (“Marci”) Malzahn is the president and founder of Malzahn Strategic, a community financial institution management consultancy focused on strategic planning, enterprise risk management, treasury management, and talent management.

Marci has 30 years of banking experience, ten of those years as the EVP/CFO and COO of a community bank she co-founded where she oversaw all areas of operations. In her last year as EVP/COO/CRO, Marci created and focused on the bank’s enterprise risk management program.

Marci is the recipient of several professional awards, is a published author of four books, and an international bilingual keynote speaker, speaking frequently at banking and credit union conferences and associations as well as leadership and women’s conferences.
